Hate is an interesting subject. How do we really decide just who it is that we are going to hate? Do we decide to hate people, who have just disagreed with us? Do we decide to hate people, who have disagreed with us and proven us wrong? Do we, as individuals,..decide to hate everyone with a different life style than our own? Do we decide to hate people, who like ketchup on their scrambled eggs rather than just salt and paper? What is it that makes some people hate others so much?
..I was driving along the other day,..looking at the cultural phenomena now known as gated communities. These communities are of a "certain class of people," who feel the need to set themselves aside from others and live with other people of a certain socio-economic level. Bill and Shawn and I were just driving around yodeling out silly songs that the guys had heard on the radio and the two of them were trying to teach me how to sing such pieces of music. We drove past several gated communites.
..Shawn turned to me and asked me why I thought that people tried to lock the world out in such a fashion. Something clicked in my head and I turned to him and said, "Shawn,..you should be glad that those folks are..."locking themselves away from the rest of us!!" We don't have to put up with their idiosyncricies and the type of thinking that makes them want to be apart from everyone else!! I want you to grow up and be the kind of fellow, who can get along with everyone and not just those,..who have a certain income!!"
..Another lady from our church says that "gated communities" are asylums for the rich!! The funny thing is that she and her husband own about one fourth of Stark County and she,..herself,.. probably has more money than all of the folks,..put together,.. in the gated community that we were speaking of!! She is a good friend of mine and that is another story that I won't go into today as I have to go to a class,..right now!!
