Anyway,..we have been SERIOULY approached by Universal and Hallmark Hall of Fame Productions. At the Last Word,..by whom I am not allowed to say,....one of these has sent the "script" to project development!! (Does Dance of Joy and Whoopie Dance at this point in time even though dancing and make-up are forbidden by religious conviction!!)

I AM JUST AMAZED AS HELL as I think of all of the time that we have spent waiting on the news as to whether someone wants to make a movie out of one little book about a blind deaf lady!! I realize that "Nellie's story" is not as hot as that of Jessica Lynch, but at one time..Nellie WAS quite famous!!

Questing Truth should soon have her copy of the Nibstar Script. If the "biggies" start to talk,..I will be trotted out again,..and at least the poor woman won't be lost as to what is going to happen next!!

Everyone loves a "critic!" It seems that at a local church dinner,..one of Bill's friends saw a problem, which occurs for me when I chew and swallow, that I usually cover up with a discreet napkin. This "friend" related his disgust to my son, "Your mother drools when she eats!! My mom says that is because your mom once had a stroke. My grandma had a stroke and we put her away in a nursing home!! Mom says that is where people like "THAT'..belong!"
Bill's answer did me proud, "Well,..my mom used to get people like your grandma OUT of nursing homes and teach them how to live safely by themselves. And my mom takes care of people,.that your mom would lock up! Did you ever think that people like my mom are the ones, who take care of people like your grandma?"
The boy has learned something in twenty-three years!!
I am in love with the telephone that my one older client uses!! She has a hearing loss, which was caused by her massive stroke and I can actually HEAR on her telephone as it has been adjusted for her hearing loss.
The man, who sold her the telephone,.was supposed to call her the other morning for a demonstration of how powerful the phone's volume is. I think that the call took place while I was there to give her her diabetic shot.
The phone rang and I picked it up!! Did you know that you can actually HEAR other people BREATHING on such a telephone with this wonderful adjustment?????
I answered a phone call for my client the other day and I actually heard BREATHING on the other end of the line! I was enthalled!! I even let my client listen and she was amazed too!!
"THIS IS WONDERFUL!" my ninety seven year old friend exclaimed!! I wonder why the "breather" said "BITCHES" before we had a chance to tell him how much we appreciated his call!!!!???!!!

The great "Black Out" caused a number of adventures here in Amishland for everyone, who habitually uses electricity!! The Amish...did..not even..know that there was a black out until several folks noticed that their English neighbors' houses had no lights on!! Since the "Second Coming" is a not yet anticpated event,..several of our "plain" neighbors came to see if there were any problems!!
I have to go now,..will talk about Black Out adventures,..later!!

I have agreed to become my eighty year old deaf friend's home nurse!! Oooooh boy!! i already have three cases,..the "post-polio syndrome lady," the lady with the stroke, the "nudist,..and now,..my deaf friend!!

I THINK THAT I AM GOING TO BE A "LITTLE BIT".....BUSY!!!

The Rev. has just gotten notification of the fact that his article,"Nellie's Dance!"..will be published in September in a national magazine!!

Congrats,..Daryl!!

Buck, my good old friend,..is off the ventilator and breathing on his own!! Yesterday,..I went to see him and he was up and WALKING AROUND ON HIS OWN!! He has quite abit of "getting better" to do yet, but I will try to get back to Deaf church again as I feel my old friend has been given a second chance at L-I-F-E...the most PRECIOUS gift of all!!

A Song About BEING HAPPY!

.....Dreeeaming!

Clouds overhead!

With grass for my soft bed!

With flowers for a dream pillow,...

I sleep in the molten yellow

Sunshine

Of this happy day!!

(Now,..that was not too gushy for something that I just made up,..was it? ;)

Buck's fever has gone down and he is off the breathing machine!! His doctor says this old fellow from Kentucky must be made of iron! He was laughing at his wife and myself as we buzzed around him,..making sure that everything was..JUST RIGHT.. and that he was comfortable with everything!
I guess it is unusual for a man of eighty years old to survive peritonitus! I would guess that it would be unusual for anyone his age to survive the major surgery,..that he had to under go to treat the peritonitus and then,..the blood filled lungs. God must want this man around for something!
What a wonderful person..this one deaf man is!! I am so privilaged to know him!! His first word after this latest crisis were, "Ahh! My poor friends! you all look so tired!! Go rest yourselves!!"
Almost..almost losing.. a person of this much value in my life and in the lives of everyone else around him, life..has presented me with a personal ephiphany,..I will not comment as yet on this new discovery I have made about human nature, but I will say that it has to do with the relative value of human beings in their respective relationships to each other.

My Deaf friends welcomed me back at the picnic for SHH as if it had not been ten years since they had seen me! It might have been only the other day! I have not even sent Christmas cards to some of them recently and yet the moment that Debby and Jane and some others saw me that day,..I have a place to sit at their tables and all of the "catching up" to do that goes to meeting old friends!!
The thing that really touched me was that I had to share all of my news with them first. The old "hospitality" is still there!! These people care about each other as human beings and not as a source of popularity or jobs or finance!! And I don't care if any of them are reading this blog,..I must say such a thing in a public place as I have recently found out that a blog is a public place!! And,..I wish to do you,..Jane,..and you,..Debbie..a small honor to acknowledge your faithfulness as people, who really care about each other!!
I heard by way of the "grapevine' that Jill would have come to the picnic,..if she had known that I would be there!! Jill is one of the Deaf women,..who had her first child back in the nasty seventies,..with her hands tied down with leather straps..because she was deaf!! To hell with the fact that she was working on her master's degeree in social work at the time at A---- University just north of where I live!! The hospital policy at the time was to tie down the young deaf woman, who was about to deliver!! I am going to seak Jill out and see if I can get her permission to tell her story in my next book!!

I am still digging out newspaper articles about Nellie! I didn't realize that I had so many!! Someone is going to be a VERY busy person, trying to put this all together!!

I also dug out a book of my old poetry!! Gads! Was I really that sloppily sentimental when I lived with Nellie and her friends!????! Wheew! I certainly have been cured of a lot of that sort of feeling!! I have been cured by "experts!"
