Yes,..I skipped going to "Jello's" house so that I could watch the TV show..Amish In The City!" I was not sure that I fully got the meaning of it on Wednesday..so I watched it again on Friday night...with Bill at my side explaining all the way!!

As far as these young Amish folks are concerned,..these youngsters will be "meidung" after this experience is over!! As far as the young California folks are concerned,..I am not surprised that they made fun of the Amish!!

I went to deaf church again on Sunday and enjoyed it very much!  The sermon was not too far out and I always enjoy a good debate on the practice of "speaking in tongues!"  Just because I do not share an opinion on something does not mean that I cannot enjoy what the other person has to say to me!! The minister was very sincere and actually "spoke in tongues' while we were there at the sermon!

"He sounded as if he were the "jabberwock" come to life!!" was my husband's comment. My husband, who deigned to occompany me on this Sunday outing, spent most of the time staring at the wall and acting as if anyone who uses signed English or talks with their hands was nothing but an ignorant fool!! He failed to notice that the only reason everyone even spoke with their voices, along with their hands,.. was so that he,..my husband,..could understand the sermon and enjoy it along with the rest of us!!

Not withstanding,..my old friend "Jello" asked hubby and I over to Canal Fulton on Wednesday night and I accepted.  I accepted the invitation!!   ARRRRRRRRRGH!  Now I have to tell my husband just what I got him to agree to!!

I also intend to ask Rosezelle to come with me..to meet "Jello!".

"Jello" would pop out of her seat if I could succeed in getting "Ron,"..one of the "guys,"..who were originally in the New Life Home,..where Nellie and I worked,..to come with me.  "Jello" was one of the folks, who taught Ron how to read and write.  If you want to know "Ron's" story,..you will have to read..Walking Free: The Nellie Zimmerman Story!  I am not going to relate that tale to you in this blog!!

"Jello" teased me,..one of the "shy ones,"..about becoming a bit famous!   I told her that she was full of "bull!"

"Einem geschenkten Gaul sieht nan nicht ins Maul...!"

No community is free from gossip. The gift of gossip is one that can be taken two ways..ie...(a) what the gossip does to the person being gossiped about and (b) what it does to the people doing the gossiping. I feel that this little homily does not hold up under the sting of the gift of..gossip!!

"Wenn man was unterniment, muss man immer zuerst wissen, warum...!"

I found another promoter for our books! As soon as I leave here I will set out to see just what she has to offer us! This is very exciting!! Things are looking very good at the moment, and I know exactly why I am going with this promoter!

The "Black Heart Book" is going to be a stunner!! The chapter titles make a person want to dive right into it!! Shivers! I now know what is meant by "to dance with the Devil under the full moon on the top of a mountain at midnight!!.." The main charactor of this book..actually did that and i won't say just what he brought home with him!!

I am still working on my manuscript! I can get my stories down but I am not a good organizer. This book will be about me, but moreso some of the folks that I have worked with over the years. It should hold many surprizes!!

Last Saturday was Rissa's graduation party! Clarie had a four hour open house set up for her daughter so that all of Rissa's friends and all of the neighbors could come and go and see all of her speech and swimming awards,..her academic awards, and her scholarship awards!! I don't know who was prouder,..her mom or me!!

All of us Aunties had to sit at our own little table and chat about Rissa and about how well she and done in school and how beautiful she is!! It is nice to sit down and be in agreement with everyone....cause we all think that Rissa has done a marvelous job with the first eighteen years of her life!!!

I FINALLY got to see Rissa's senior prom picture. She is just gorgeous in a bright red satin gown and her hair done in a braided uplift. The girl carried off that bright color with style and grace and a snow white wrist corsage of white roses! The white roses in her hair made her a picture of feminine beauty that took my breath away!! The handsome young man at her side topped off the whole picture perfectly. What Clarie and I might have missed in OUR early years,..Rissa's success and graduation has more than made up for!!

I gave the little girl great-grandma's old red T-Cross-quilt as a graduation present. It was made with an oriignal pattern almost one hundred years ago and has a story built into it. That old red quilt has crossed the Missisippi River and the Ohio River so many times that I think I have lost count of all of the tales behind it.

When I asked Rissa if she liked it and was it "O-K" as a graduation present, she smiled at me and said, "It's perfect. It is a part of our past."

The little girl is so right and her having the quilt is so right. The red T-cross-quilt is a symbol of our past, and Rissa is a living symbol of a hopeful future!
