Good news on the WALKING FREE market scene. WALKING FREE: THE NELLIE ZIMMERMAN STORY has just been accepted as part of the social studies ciriculum at St. Joseph's and St. James School in Canal Fulton,..Ohio!!

Over 1000 children in this area starting this next fall will be studying the story of Miss Nellie Zimmerman and what she did when society and those around her rejected her. Life handed her lemons. She made lemonade.

This also creates a market for my next book.......tenetiively titled.....WALKING FREE AND STANDING STRONG.

One of the questions asked by the children of St. James and St. John's School was,..."We can understand WHY....the ladies at the church banquet..did..not want Nellie to use THEIR restroom when you and Nellie went there to speak at their ladies' meeting as told in the story..WALKING FREE. WHY DID THOSE SAME LADIES REFUSE TO LET YOU USE THEIR RESTROOM,..EMILY?"



I can't come out and tell little children..about segregated restrooms and about how some of the ladies..knew about my mom. I must say,..however,..SUCCESS IS THE BEST REVENGE!!!



The children and grandchildren of those women...will be studying about Nellie and I in school,..and I hope that one or two of the children will be reading aloud that story to their mother or grandmother and the woman will sit up and think,.."Oh my LORD!!! That book doesn't name any names..does it??!!""
